A chair the child picks for themselves

Prince is a wooden children's chair with a crown-shaped backrest. The recognisable shape makes the chair feel personal, and children sit down without negotiation. For a speech therapist, psychologist or teacher that saves the first minutes of a session — the ones usually spent persuading a child to sit at all.

Four seat heights, not one generic "kids" size

Seat height 26, 28, 30 or 32 cm. Correct seating means feet flat on the floor, knees at roughly a right angle, back supported. When feet dangle, a child rocks, tucks their legs up and slides down — and it gets read as "can't sit still", when it is in fact a chair-height problem.

Under educational furniture size groups, a 26 cm seat matches group 1 (child height 100-115 cm) and 30 cm matches group 2 (115-130 cm). The 28 and 32 cm heights are intermediate and cover the gaps in mixed-height groups.

Materials that survive a full group of children

Seat: moisture-resistant plywood 18 mm, 29 x 29 cm, rounded edges. Backrest: moisture-resistant plywood 12 mm, crown-cut with rounded points and no sharp corners. Legs: solid natural beech, 40 mm diameter — solid hardwood, not tube or chipboard, so the chair does not wobble or loosen after a month of use.

Finish: water-based lacquer or paint — no solvent smell, safe for daily wet cleaning with disinfectant.

Pairing with a table

A comfortable seat-to-tabletop difference for a child is about 20 cm: seat 26 cm — table 46 cm; 28 cm — 49 cm; 30 cm — 49-52 cm; 32 cm — 52 cm. If you already have the table, tell us its height and we will match the seat.

Seven colours

Natural, white, grey, blue, green, pink, yellow. For sensory rooms and children with heightened sensory sensitivity we recommend natural, white or grey — they add no visual noise. Coloured backrests work well as place markers: each child remembers their own colour and seating stops being a daily argument.
