UNO chair: a seat that does not wear out

The seat is faced with HPL laminate — the same material used for laboratory worktops, medical rooms and catering surfaces: wear-resistant, moisture-resistant, resistant to chemicals and fading, and safe for food contact.

Why that matters here: a children's chair does not fail structurally, it wears out at the seat. Painted plywood rubs smooth within two years in a nursery, exactly where the child sits and shifts. HPL does not: it does not polish away, does not absorb marker, modelling clay or juice stains, and withstands daily damp cleaning with disinfectants.

1.8 kilograms. The child carries the chair themselves — to the table, away after the session, closer to a friend. Where an adult arranges the chairs, the child never does this and never learns to.

Form. Rounded edges throughout, a three-slat back, four legs splaying outward for stability.

Dimensions. Overall 280 × 290 × 570 mm. Seat 280 × 280 mm at 320 mm from the floor. Weight 1.8 kg.

Which table to pair it with. A 32 cm seat needs a table of about 52 cm — a difference of roughly 20 cm. It does not suit tables of 43–46 cm: the child's knees will not fit.
